Merry Christmas… and connected New Year!

From Matrix Electrónica and MTX we never stop working for a world with better connectivity, and that is why we want to wish all our customers happy Holidays and a more and better connected New Year.

Our hope for these days of celebration and for 2019 to have technology bring us closer and to help create more accesibility, security and sustainability for all.

The MTX team,

MTX-Router-Titan update and new Application Notes

MTX-Router-Titan, our firmware that converts our Gateways into powerful Titan Routers with all kinds of IoT features is updated with new features as the possibility of running up to 5 simultaneous MQTT-RS232/RS485/USB simultaneous gateways stands out.

Thanks to this, MTX-Router-Titan have the possibility that, from Cervello IoT Platform, protocols are implemented to act directly on the devices connected on the RS232/RS485 serial ports of the router, as well as the USB port (for compatible devices FTDI or ACM). Cervello IoT Platform could also directly control internal radio cards of the Titan router, such as Coronis Wavecard, Wireless-MBus, GPS or any other that could be incorporated.

To verify the potential of these new functionalities, we have generated two new Application Notes.

AN37: How to use MQTT-USB/RS232/RS485 gateways

It shows how to create 4 transparent gateways, two RS232-MQTT, one RS485-MQTT and another USB-MQTT against an MQTT broker (eg Cervello), so that from it you can access the data flow from each equipment connected to the TITAN, as well as send data to them.

AN38: RS232, RS485 and USB serial port redirects

In this scenario, a USB probe is available that periodically sends the temperature through said USB port. The Titan must take the data flow from the USB port (the temperature in this case) and forward it through each of its other serial ports to other RS232 or RS485 devices. To carry out this application, use is made of the small mqtt broker that has the Titan integrated inside.

Version MTX-Tunnel v10.18 available

Our MTX-Tunnel firmware incorporated in our IoT Modems is updated to a new version. With the arrival of the MTX-Tunnel v10.18, some interesting functionalities implemented for real projects are introduced and we have shown in three new scenarios especially dedicated to Metering solutions in which it is necessary to use SMS messaging.

In this new version of the MTX-Tunnel we make changes to SMS messaging with the following changes:

  • Support is added between sending AT commands via serial port and SMS-RS232 tunnels through the same serial port
  • Improvement in the reception of SMS commands avoiding that in very special circumstances the modems could stop receiving SMS

In addition, we have added new Metering scenarios to our MTX-Tunnel manual where special emphasis is placed on the evolution of CSD to IP communications, the introduction of a Device Manager and, above all, the security of communications, performance every day, more in demand.

New scenario: Meter reading via GSM call and/or IP communications (without SSL/ TLS security). Incorporation of Device Manager (with SSL/TLS security) for modem management

Counter reading system, compatible with both CSD calls (with security restriction of incoming telephone numbers) and IP communications (with Firewall), where communication with a Device Manager (such as Cervello) is also introduced. In this case, secure communications (SSL / TLS) are only with the Device Manager (Cervello).

New scenario: Meter reading via GSM data call (CSD) and IP communications (with SSL/TLS security). Incorporation of Device Manager (with SSL/TLS security) for modem management

Counter reading system, compatible with both CSD calls (with security restriction of incoming telephone numbers) and IP communications (with Firewall), where communication with a Device Manager is also introduced (such as Cervello). In this case, communications between modem and Device Manager, and between modem and Reading Platform (once the data channel is open) have SSL / TLS security.

New scenario: Reading of counters per CSD call and IP communications with SSL/ TLS. Incorporation of Device Manager for modem management and connection between modems and the meter box reading platform

The meter reading system with greater security. In this case, the MTX modem does not have any open TCP or UDP port (which increases security) but all communications are made FROM the modem TO the Device Manager servers (Cervello) and the Reading Platform with SSL / TLS security and mutual authentication. In this specific scenario, synthesizing, when the Meter Reading Platform wants to read a counter, it informs the Device Manager (Cervello) through its API (HTTPS secure communication) that it needs to communicate with a certain modem. Then Cervello, through the secure connection (SSL / TLS) that it maintains permanently with each modem, tells the corresponding modem that it must open a secure data channel with the platform. The entire system is also compatible with CSD call.

MTX-StarFire, new Gateway BMS, in Dubai for GITEX Technology Week

MTX will be present at GITEX Technology Week presenting its new line of IoT gateways for BMS (Building Management System) and with special attention to MTX-StarFire alarm connectivity devices.

GITEX, which will be held from October 6 to 10 at the Dubai World Trade Center, is the largest technology fair in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. With more than 4800 exhibitors from 140 different countries, it is estimated that more than 100 thousand people will attend. Stop by the MTX stand in the Zabeel hall, stand Z3-D24, where our powerful industrial devices (routers, modems, gateways and custom equipment) will be available, which together with the Cervello IoT Platform, by IoT Blue (a Flexitron Group company) form an integral solution for infinite IoT applications.

MTX-StarFire I

The MTX-StarFire I is an innovative BMS gateway for alarm management systems (fire, smoke, gas…) with a complete set of interfaces including 8 universal analog inputs, designed to work with EOLR (End of Line Resistors). It is programmed in Java and its optimized low consumption with a LiPo battery allows it to continue working, with continuous communication with Cervello IoT Platfom, for more than 12-24 hours without any external power supply. Designed in a protective metal case.

MTX-StarFire II

The MTX-StarFire II, relative of the MTX-StarFire I, is also a BMS gateway for alarm management systems with more analog inputs, which can add up to 36. It also has 2x RS485 and Ethernet. Unlike the MTX-StarFire I it is programmed in Linux, and needs external power supply.
